Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert an SRT file to plain text?
Drop the .srt file into the converter at the top of this page. The plain text appears straight away, with no numbers or timestamps. Click Download .txt or Copy.
- How do I remove timestamps from an SRT file?
Converting SRT to TXT removes every timestamp and cue number and leaves only the words. Your original SRT file isn’t changed.
- Is this SRT to TXT converter free?
Yes. It is free with no signup and no limit on how many files you convert.
- Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the file and converts it on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it works for private or unreleased work too.
- Can I turn the TXT back into an SRT?
Not from the text alone, because a TXT file has no timings. Keep your original SRT if you need subtitles again.
- I don't have a subtitle file yet. Can you make one?
Yes. Upload your video to AutoSubtitles and it writes the subtitles for you from the speech, with timings. You can fix any word, then burn styled captions into the video for free, or download SRT, VTT and TXT files with Pro ($9/month).
